The humble analogue cassette continues its rise as a cultural design icon even when its functional use has declined.

Like a transparent multi storey car park or a game of 3D chess. I could see things that were going to happen above me as well as relate what was happening to me in the dream to a simultaneous causal event on the lower level. I felt much less 'there' than in many other dreams.Woke up in an understandably confused state.

He'd looked somewhat stressed as the previous shopper, a late 50-something woman who chewed gum and failed to acknowledge him in any meaningful way whilst doing her best to hold up the queue and take as much time as she possibly could. I'd done my best to smile and engage in small talk whilst packing and paying as promptly as I possibly could (supermarkets give me the hee-bee gee-bees so I have a vested interest in getting the hell out as fast as possible). Just as I started to depart the young man for whatever reason gave me a pseudo military style salute and without really thinking (thinking has no place in a supermarket) I quickly returned the salute. He seemed amused by my prompt return of favour.

Another typically rabid BBC Have Your Say comment. Makes you glad to be alive doesn't it?

Blimey, I own this one on both Vinyl & CD but obviously the vinyl box set works better for Sleeveface (unless you have a really small head or are creative with distances).

Some things stick in your mind. Once seen never forgotten. And it seems I was not alone (if the related youtube comments are anything to go by) way back when as the safe middle class mediocrity of Saturday morning kids TV played this video without perhaps fully checking its entire suitability. I can remember buying the album purely on the basis of happening upon this promos awkward morning placement and can still remember the slack jawed reaction and momentary dead air silence that the kids TV presenter gave immediately afterwards. Just a bit 'out there' perhaps for such a safe TV entity as Swap Shop.

Dreamt I was rushing around doing last minute Xmas shopping. I had been invited to a family get together which I was really reluctant to attend. Dream ended just as I finally arrived. A total anxiety dream. It's coming. Fear it.Odd really as I've been more relaxed around Xmas the past few years.

Dreamt I was back working in a facilities house (a place where video and film is edited, duplicated and transferred to various playback formats) which was long and narrow and filled with the more frustrating aspects of analogue media. In this dream the premise switched between being darkly lit and minimally staffed to suddenly full of people and all of a sudden situated outdoors. It was as if the walls and ceiling would temporarily dissolve.
During the outdoor periods it was hard to stop the facility becoming corrupted by high spirited visitors who would engage in opportunistic projects of their own with a misappropriation of time and materials. A stressful experience staying focussed on the tasks at hand whilst keeping a sense of humour towards the giggling opportunists.

The Beeb have placed some of the old Tomorrow's World footage on the BBC archive site. Here's the unveiling of the Moog synthesizer. Analogue-tastic.
UPDATE: The unveiling of the Fairlight CMI circa '79/80 can be found in this clip starting at around 16:55
